More than 50 flights have been delayed.
Sochi airport delayed more than 50 flights, according to online scoreboard data. The problems began on the night of August 30, when the Krasnodar region and neighboring Adygea were attacked by drones. Then the airport temporarily stopped receiving and sending planes, leaving "thousands" of people stranded there, local media wrote. The press service of the air harbor warned passengers about possible postponements and cancellations of flights in the next two days.
On the night of August 31, no flight bans were introduced. However, the adjustment of the schedule due to past restrictions led to new delays both on domestic and international routes. Among other things, the situation was aggravated by the suspension of flights due to drones on August 28, when about 60 flights were knocked out of the schedule.
At the moment, 24 flights have been delayed for departure and 30 for arrival. There are not enough waiting seats for everyone, people are sitting on the floor. They are being given mats. A Sochi airport spokesman told RBC that all services are operating normally. According to him, eight flights were delayed for more than two hours, and this is due to "production reasons of the airlines."
On the night of August 30, Ukrainian drones attacked the Krasnodar oil refinery (refinery). The operational headquarters reported a 300 m² fire and damage to one of the process units. No one was injured. According to the Russian Defense Ministry, 11 Ukrainian drones were then shot down over the Kuban and another 30 over the Black Sea. The morning report on August 31 did not report the attack on the Krasnodar Region, and flight restrictions were imposed only at Volgograd airport.
