In the church of the Smolensk icon of the Mother of God on the territory of the Valaam Monastery (Karelia, Russia), which Putin and Lukashenko visited on August 1, they discovered a mural dedicated to the so-called special military operation ("SVO") - as Russians call the war in Ukraine. This is according to a story by Russian propaganda channel Rossiya 1, which cited "Agency".

The mural shows a Russian military officer with the symbol of the Russian occupiers - the letter Z on his sleeve - bandaging the head of a wounded Ukrainian soldier.

According to the Russian media, the image appeared on the territory of the monastery no later than August 2023, a publication by the military department of the Moscow Patriarchate testifies. However, this fact was not paid much attention to at the time.
