Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky has spoken to soldiers near the front line in Kharkiv region in the northeast of the country. Zelensky met with soldiers of the 17th separate motorized infantry battalion of the 57th brigade in the Volchansk region. The Ukrainian leader reported about the trip on Monday, August 4 in social network X.

"We spoke with commanders about the situation on the front line, the defense of Volchansk, and the dynamics of the fighting," Zelenskyy noted. "Separately, we raised the issue of providing drones and their use, recruiting and direct financing of brigades," he added. According to Zelensky, the participation of mercenaries from China, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Pakistan and African countries in battles on the side of the Russian Federation is recorded in this direction.
Volchansk is a town in the Chuguev district of the Kharkiv region of Ukraine. It is about five kilometers from the border with Russia and was almost completely destroyed in May 2024 as a result of massive attacks by Moscow, Zelensky specified.
The Ukrainian head of state added that he also talked to the 92nd separate assault brigade in Kharkiv region.

Volodymyr Zelenskyy clarified on Telegram that he is convening the Supreme Commander-in-Chief's Stavka on August 5. "We are all fighting for one thing - independence for Ukraine," the Ukrainian president added.
Ahead of that, Kharkiv Mayor Igor Terekhov said that about 15 Shahed-type UAVs, two ballistic missiles and four guided aerial bombs struck the city on the night of July 26. Five people were injured, including three rescuers.
The head of Kharkiv regional military administration Oleh Sinegubov in turn wrote about the drone attack on the city of Zmiyiv, two residents were injured there.
