Putin Was Informed About The Impossibility Of Supplying Water To "DNR" Residents

In some cities, water is supplied every three days.

The Russian-occupied territories of Donetsk Region have further reduced water supply schedules, which was already in short supply due to the war with Ukraine. This was reported to Russian President Vladimir Putin by the "governor" of the self-proclaimed "DNR" Denis Pushilin. "In the Donetsk-Makeev agglomeration, water is now supplied once every three days for a few hours, in Yenakievo and a group of nearby towns - once every four days, in Mariupol - once every two days," he said, noting the The Moscow Times.

According to Pushilin, such a schedule increases the wear and tear of networks: utility workers have to fix "one hundred breakages" every day, and at the peak "up to two thousand" accidents per week. At the moment, water is supplied to the "DNR" from the Don-Donbass water pipeline built in 2023 with a current capacity of 250,000 cubic meters per day. Inland reservoirs are also sources, including Volyntsevskoye on the Bulavin River in Yenakievo, Uglegorskoye in Svetlodarsk, and Grabovskoye on the Mius, which supplies the districts of Torez and Snezhnoye. However, according to Pushilin, there are problems with their filling, and accidents on the networks lead to the loss of up to 60 percent of water as it moves to users.

Pushin said that the authorities are trying to influence the situation by cleaning riverbeds, increasing the number of emergency crews and using water trucks that come from other regions, including Moscow, the region and St. Petersburg. In addition, the resource is being transferred from more stable reservoirs to shallow ones.

The water supply in Donetsk region was disrupted after Russia invaded Ukraine. According to Vody Donbassa, there is a shortage of the resource in more than 10 cities in the region - including Donetsk, Torez, Makeyevka, Yasinovataya, Gorlovka, Yenakievo, Debaltsevo, Kirovske, Zhdanivka, Shakhtersk, and Snezhnoye.
