AFU To Receive New Aid From Croatia Under New Mechanism

This was reported by Zelensky.

Croatia will provide Ukrainian defenders with new assistance. This will happen within the framework of the SAFE mechanism.

Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky reports this in Telegram.

The Ukrainian head of state said he had a conversation with Croatian Prime Minister Andrej Plenkovic. Zelensky congratulated the Croatians on Victory Day and thanked the fatherland.

The President said that he informed the head of the Croatian government about the situation on the front, the increase in Russian strikes on civilians, as well as cooperation with partners to strengthen the AFU. In particular, the parties discussed a new mechanism under which European countries buy American weapons for Ukrainian warriors.

"They also discussed the SAFE mechanism and the opportunities that this tool provides for strengthening defense capabilities and Ukraine. Croatia will allocate its part to support our warriors. Thank you!" - Zelensky added.

The SAFE (Security Action for Europe) mechanism is a new financial initiative of the European Union, adopted on May 27, 2025, aimed at strengthening the defense industry and increasing the EU's readiness to protect its interests.

The SAFE provides for the allocation of up to 150 billion euros in the form of long-term loans for EU member states, Ukraine and other partners interested in joint defense projects.

The SAFE also provides for the possibility of ordering weapons for EU countries at Ukrainian enterprises.
