Ukraine To Receive Weapons Worth More Than 1 Billion Dollars From Four European Countries

The package will include interceptor missiles for Patriot air defense systems.

Denmark, Norway, Sweden and the Netherlands will finance the transfer of more than $1 billion worth of U.S. arms for Ukraine.

This was announced by U.S. State Department spokeswoman Tammy Bruce during a briefing on August 5.

She said Denmark, Norway and Sweden announced the decision to finance an additional $500 million package of US weapons for Ukraine.

She recalled that on August 4, the Netherlands agreed to pay for the delivery of the first package of US weapons and ammunition worth more than 500 million euros. Among them are interceptor missiles for Patriot air defense systems.

Bruce noted that "together, these deliveries amount to more than $1 billion in high-tech American equipment."

"As Ambassador Whitaker noted, this will allow Ukraine to protect critical infrastructure and civilian lives, as well as keep on the battlefield until a sustainable cease-fire is reached," the State Department spokeswoman said.
