A "waiter" who worked for the GRU has been detained.
In Donetschyna, the Security Service of Ukraine has detained an agent of the Russian military intelligence who was collecting information about the positions of Ukrainian troops near Pokrovsk.
His data should have formed the basis for the next offensive of the occupants, the SBU press service reported.

The SBU counterintelligence conducted a successful special operation near the front line, detaining a Russian agent working for the Russian Main Intelligence Directorate. He turned out to be a 34-year-old resident of Mirnograd, an electrician by profession, who was waiting for "the arrival of Russia" in the region.
According to the investigation, the spy was recruited by his former classmate, who is now fighting on the side of Russian troops in Eastern Ukraine. The main task of the occupiers' accomplice was to secretly patrol Pokrovsk and the surrounding areas in order to fix the positions of the Ukrainian Defense Forces. Of particular interest to the enemy were the coordinates of fortified areas, reserve command posts, as well as ammunition depots.
After each "reconnaissance trip" the GRU agent systematized the collected data and transmitted them in the form of agency reports through anonymous chats in messenger.
The SBU timely identified the traitor's activity, documented his contacts with his GRU handler and neutralized the threat. In addition, counterintelligence officers promptly protected Ukrainian defensive positions near Pokrovsk.
In the course of the search, the detainee was seized a cell phone with encrypted correspondence in which he coordinated actions with representatives of the occupation forces.
The occupier's accomplice was declared a suspect under Part 2 of Article 111 of the Criminal Code (state treason under martial law). He is in custody and may receive life imprisonment with confiscation of property. The operation was carried out by the SBU in Donetsk and Luhansk regions with procedural support from the Donetsk regional prosecutor's office.
