Milorad Dodik has been stripped of his post as president of Republika Srpska. His powers were terminated by Bosnia and Herzegovina's CEC.
Dodik lost his post due to a court verdict. He received a year in prison, as well as a six-year ban from holding the office of president.
Dodik was accused of disobeying the High Representative for Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kristian Schmidt. That official oversees implementation of the Dayton Accords, which define Bosnia and Herzegovina's constitutional order.
The Bosnia and Herzegovina CEC must now call new elections in Republika Srpska. Dodik has two days to appeal.
