Trump Has Officially Been Nominated For The Nobel Peace Prize

A letter offering to honor the U.S. president was sent by the Cambodian prime minister.

Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet has sent a letter to the Nobel Peace Committee offering to honor U.S. President Donald Trump with a peace prize, the Cambodian Press Agency reports.

"I, as Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia, have the great honor to formally nominate the esteemed Donald J. Trump for the Nobel Peace Prize. Trump, the 45th and 47th President of the United States of America, for the Nobel Peace Prize in recognition of his historic contributions to promoting world peace," the prime minister wrote in his letter dated August 7.

Hun Manet praised Trump for his "exceptional statesmanship" and thanked him for mediating Cambodia's conflict with Thailand. The letter also said the US president had made "exceptional achievements in reducing tensions in some of the world's most volatile regions."
