Trump Plans To Put A Democratic Representative In The Top Energy Job
David Rosner

The politician is a man from Biden's team.

Donald Trump plans to nominate Democrat David Rosner, a man on Biden's team, to head the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission.

This was reported by RBC-Ukraine citing Bloomberg.

A senior White House official said on condition of anonymity that the move would put a Democrat at the helm of the agency, which plays an important role in Trump's plans to promote American oil, gas and coal.

Rosner is expected to succeed Republican Mark Christie, who recently left the role.

David Rosner previously served as an aide to Biden-era Sen. Joe Manchin, a politician who has been a strong advocate for the coal and natural gas industry in Congress. According to the source, the new chief generally supports the incumbent's energy priorities.

FERC has long been a political battleground: during Trump's first cadence, his appointees tried but failed to push through policies that favored gas and coal-fired generation.

Now, however, the situation is complicated by the growing demand for cheap energy - particularly because of the data center boom and the rise of artificial intelligence. Last month, the annual auction of electricity from the largest U.S. power grid broke a record, reaching $16.1 billion.
