BILD: Whitkoff Misunderstands Putin On Concessions And Ukraine

Russian dictator Vladimir Putin has not given up his intentions to fully control Donetsk, Luhansk, Zaporizhzhya and Kherson regions.

According to the publication, citing its sources, the Kremlin is offering only a partial ceasefire - renouncing attacks on energy facilities and major cities in the rear - but not a comprehensive truce.

At the same time, the United States has offered to freeze the conflict along the actual front line in exchange for a significant easing of sanctions and economic agreements with Russia.

According to BILD, the Kremlin rejected this option.

The situation was complicated by the mistake of U.S. special envoy Steve Whitkoff, who misunderstood Putin's statements and mistook them for concessions.

In particular, the Russian demand for a "peaceful withdrawal" of Ukrainian troops from Kherson and Zaporozhye was interpreted by Whitkoff as a "peaceful withdrawal" of Russian troops from these regions.

"Whitkoff does not know what he is talking about," a Ukrainian government official commented on the situation in a conversation with BILD.
