To provoke a new migration crisis.

Russian dictator Putin has teamed up with a Libyan warlord to provoke a new migration crisis in the European Union.

The Telegraph (translated by "Unian"), pointing to the fact that the European Commission has recorded an increase in the number of flights between the eastern Libyan city of Benghazi and Minsk.

- Officials said the trend indicates possible coordination with General Khalifa Haftar, the military leader in control of much of eastern Libya, to facilitate a wave of illegal migration to the EU. It could mean a repeat of events in the summer of 2021, when tens of thousands of would-be asylum seekers were helped to cross the borders of Belarus. According to officials, it was a Russian-organized attempt to destabilize the EU," the publication writes.

An EC spokesman told The Telegraph that the frequency and nature of Minsk-Bengazi flights operated by Belavia raise questions about "possible coordination or facilitation of illegal migration flows."

Data from open sources studied by The Telegraph show a sharp increase in the number of flights between the Libyan city and the Belarusian capital in recent months. There were just two flights between the cities in May, rising to five in June and four in July.

Lukashenko has previously been accused of allowing migrants to land in Minsk on similar flights and then helping to transport them to temporary camps on the borders with Poland, Lithuania and Latvia.

"Analysts have since claimed this was done in coordination with Putin to divert attention from his troops concentrated on the borders with Ukraine ahead of an invasion in February 2022," the publication emphasizes.
