A possible murderer was detained in Khmelnitsky region of Ukraine.

Ukrainian law enforcers have detained a suspect in the murder of MP and former Verkhovna Rada speaker Andriy Parubiy.

Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky said.

"The Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine Igor Klimenko and the head of the Security Service of Ukraine Vasyliy Malyuk have just reported on the detention of a suspect in the murder of Andrei Parubiy," he wrote in Telegram.

According to the Ukrainian president, the necessary investigative actions are now continuing.

"Instructed to present the available information to the public. Thank you to law enforcers for prompt and well-coordinated work. All the circumstances of this terrible murder must be clarified," Zelensky added.

The Security Service of Ukraine reported that the suspect was detained in Khmelnytsky region.

The murder of the former speaker of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, Andriy Parubiy, took place on August 30 in the Frankivsky district of Lviv.

The politician was shot by a man disguised as a Glovo courier, who then hid the gun in a bag. The attacker was wearing a black helmet and traveling on an electric bike. Eight bullets were fired at the Ukrainian politician.
