Details from European Commission chief Ursula von der Leyen.
One third of the weapons that the EU has supplied to Ukraine since the beginning of the full-scale war originate from Bulgaria. This was announced by European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen during a visit to the country, BGNES wrote on Sunday, August 31.
She noted that Bulgaria has a strong defense industry and is the only country where the largest private employer is a defense industry company. The country produces a large amount of ammunition and explosives, which in particular is supplied to Ukraine.
"Here you produce a large amount of ammunition and explosives that support Ukraine and its fight for freedom. Since the beginning of the war, a third of the weapons that Ukraine uses come from Bulgaria. Bulgaria makes an active contribution to the defense and security of both Ukraine and Europe," Von der Leyen said.
