Radoslaw Sikorski said that the flight of drones from Belarus was a planned action.
Polish Foreign Minister and Deputy Prime Minister Radoslaw Sikorski commented on the night incident with Russian drones and the decision to close the Belarusian-Polish border. According to him, the fact that the drones flew from the territory of Belarus proves the premeditation of the attack. Sikorski said that the cup of Poland's patience with Belarus has overflowed.
Radoslaw Sikorski is sure that the night incident with drones was not an accident.
- The fact that they [drones] came from the direction of Belarus is an additional factor that allows us to believe that it was a planned action," said the head of Polish diplomacy.
He explained that if it was a glitch or an accident, the drones would have flown from the territory of Ukraine, where there are active hostilities. The Belarusian direction, according to the Polish minister, indicates the planned and purposeful nature of the provocation.
Sikorski also accused official Minsk of a whole series of "hostile steps," which, according to him, resulted in the decision to completely close the border. Among Warsaw's main claims against Minsk, the minister named:
violating the rights of the Polish minority, persecuting activists and imprisoning Poles, including journalist Andrzej Poczobut;
"taking hostages, such as recent Polish Carmelite traveler Gzegorz Havel;
organizing a hybrid attack on the border with the help of migrants, which cost Poland "hundreds of millions of euros";
conducting joint military exercises "West-2025" with Russia with an aggressive scenario.
- I hope Alexander Lukashenko will realize that the cup of [our] patience has overflowed," concluded the Polish Foreign Minister.
We recall that on the night of September 10, during the massive Russian attack on Ukraine, drones flew into Polish airspace. Military aviation was engaged to destroy them. For security reasons, airports in Warsaw, Lublin and Rzeszów were temporarily closed. According to the country's Prime Minister Donald Tusk, a significant part of UAVs flew from Belarus. A total of 19 airspace violations were recorded.
On the eve of the incident, Prime Minister Donald Tusk announced the decision to completely close the border with Belarus from midnight on September 12.
