Demonstrators took to the streets to protest austerity measures, including the government's proposal to cut social spending, BFMTV reports.
In Paris, about 400 people stormed Lyon station, blocking one of the capital's biggest transportation hubs.
At the Authorities recorded more than 430 actions across the country, involving about 29,000 people. There were clashes with police, arson attacks and traffic blockades in Paris and other cities.
