Poland Introduced Another Restriction Along The Border With Belarus

It will be in effect until December 9.

At the request of the Operational Command of the Armed Forces of Poland, an air traffic restriction will be imposed in eastern Poland along Poland's borders with Belarus and Ukraine from September 10 from 22:00 until December 9, TVN24 reported, citing the Polish Air Fleet Agency (PAŻP).

The restriction is imposed for reasons of state security in accordance with the decree of the Minister of Infrastructure on flight restrictions for a period not exceeding three months.

The PAŻP said that at the request of the Operational Command of the Armed Forces, an air traffic restriction in the eastern part of Poland in the form of restricted area EP R129 is imposed from September 10 from 22:00 to December 9 until 23:59.

According to the schedule presented by PAŻP, the EP R129 zone covers the entire border with Belarus and Ukraine.

Exceptions to the restrictions

The agency emphasized that from sunset to sunrise, there is a complete ban on flights in the EP R129 zone, except for military aircraft. There is also a 24-hour ban on civilian unmanned aircraft flights in the zone.

The report notes that after coordination with the Duty Operations Service of the Center for Air Operations - Air Component Command (DSO COP-DKP) at 261 828 202, government air transport and air ambulance flights may be permitted, as well as flights conducted to assist in cases of threats to human or animal life or health, "including, but not limited to, during natural disasters, catastrophes, environmental threats or emergencies." In addition, flights related to the protection and control of critical infrastructure may be allowed.

PAŻP emphasized that the entry of aircraft that do not meet the exclusion criteria into the active zone is a violation of the provisions of the Aviation Act.

The decision was made after Polish airspace was repeatedly violated by drones during the Russian Federation's attack on Ukraine on Tuesday night.
