Poland Sends 40 Thousand Soldiers To The Border With Belarus

Poland's Deputy Minister of National Defense Cesarius Tomczyk said that in the coming days "there will be about 40,000 soldiers on the Polish borders." This is due to the Russian-Belarusian exercise Zapad, which will begin Friday near the Polish border.
The Zapad-2025 maneuvers are scheduled for Sept. 12-16 and will be the first since Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine began. The maneuvers will take place, among other places, in Grodno and Pravdinsk, near the Polish border.
"Poland has been preparing for the Zapad-2025 maneuvers for months. The Polish army has conducted exercises involving more than 30,000 Polish soldiers, as well as Alliance soldiers, to adequately respond to Zapad-2025," Tomczyk told Polsat News.
-"Let's remember that Zapad-2025 is an offensive exercise. They started the war in Ukraine as well as the aggression against Georgia. In this regard, the Polish army has been preparing for it. In the coming days we will have about 40,000 soldiers on the border," the vice minister stressed.
The Lithuanian Defense Ministry warns that the exercises may include testing the readiness of the Western Military District and the Baltic Fleet. "Given the shortage of soldiers and equipment, Russia could use its nuclear capabilities," said British think tank Chatham House.
The maneuvers will involve up to 30,000 soldiers, of which 6,000 to 8,000 will be stationed in Belarus.
