Lithuania And Estonia Partially Closed The Sky For The Exercise Of Belarus And Russia

The military maneuvers "West-2025" started today.

Lithuania and Estonia have partially closed the skies for the duration of Russia and Belarus' Zapad-2025 military exercises, reports ERR.

The proposal was made by the Estonian Defense Forces and confirmed by Defense Minister Hanno Pevkur, who said Estonia and Latvia "agreed on the feasibility of jointly agreeing on nighttime restrictions."

"The no-fly zone will be in effect in the coming weeks from 8 p.m. to 7 a.m. During this period, normal civil aviation activities, including the use of recreational drones, will be prohibited," the article says.

A total of four countries have already restricted airspace for the period of maneuvers - Poland and Latvia did so earlier. The authorities of these countries specified that the restrictions are imposed due to recent incidents with drones in Poland.

On Friday, Belarus launched the strategic exercise "West-2025". They will be held until September 16 at firing ranges in Belarus and Russia, as well as in the waters of the Baltic and Barents Seas. The exercises will last from September 12 to 16.

The military will practice planning for the use of nuclear weapons and the new Russian Oreshnik systems, which are to be deployed in Belarus by the end of 2025.

Belarusian Security Council State Secretary Alexander Wolfovich said Poland, Latvia and Lithuania did not accept the invitation to observe the exercises.
