The royal family is preparing something special for the President of the United States.
The British royal family is preparing a special reception for Donald Trump: the monarchy is using "soft power" to bolster diplomacy and demonstrate influence over world leaders.
The Reuters reports.
The British royal family is preparing to receive Donald Trump with a maximum demonstration of diplomatic influence. Historians note that the monarchy is able to connect with world leaders in a way that few others can.
"Is there any other leader in the world with as much influence over Donald Trump as the British monarch?" - said historian and author Anthony Seldon, emphasizing the monarchy's unique role in international diplomacy.
British Prime Minister Keir Starmer had earlier sought the royal family's support to gain Trump's favor over the war in Ukraine and trade tariffs.
In the Oval Office of the White House, he received a letter from King Charles proposing a second state visit, which immediately elicited positive vibes from the president. "Isn't it wonderful? He's a wonderful man, a wonderful man," Trump told Starmer.
At the time of the visit, Trump and his wife Melania will be met by Prince William and Duchess Kate. The program will include a carriage parade, a state banquet, a military aircraft flyover and fireworks. The British government expects the monarchy's participation to help strengthen defense and trade ties with Washington.
The royal family has previously hosted world leaders including Vladimir Putin, Si Jinping and Emmanuel Macron, demonstrating its influence and supporting diplomatic initiatives. "Soft power is hard to measure, but its value is recognized at home and abroad," said the king's treasurer James Chalmers.
Seldon said Trump's visit is an opportunity for the monarchy to show the world its importance and influence on the international stage.
