The country wants normalization of relations with Turkey.
From November 1, 2025, the image of Mount Ararat will be removed from the Armenian state border crossing stamps. It will be replaced by the inscriptions "Armenia" in Armenian and English, the name of the border crossing point, the date of border crossing, as well as symbols of the type of border crossing point - air, rail or road, reports Radio Liberty.
Mount Ararat is considered a national symbol of Armenia and is depicted on its coat of arms, but it is located on the territory of Turkey under the Moscow Treaty of 1921 as part of Surmali district of Erivan province, which was previously part of the Republic of Armenia. The countries have had disagreements over the Armenian-Azerbaijani conflict in Karabakh and the issues of recognizing the Armenian genocide in the Ottoman Empire in 1915.
