Politico: EU Postpones Adoption Of 19th Package Of Sanctions Against Russia

The package was due on Wednesday, Sept. 17.

The European Union's 19th package of sanctions against Russia will not be presented on Wednesday as previously planned. This was reported by Politico, citing an EU diplomat.

It is noted that the sanctions package was taken off the agenda of Coreper II - the Committee of Permanent Representatives of Member States' Governments - amid pressure from US President Donald Trump and the European Union itself on Slovakia and Hungary to reduce their dependence on Russian oil.

"The information was communicated to capitals late Monday afternoon, without any details on when the sanctions would be unveiled. A spokesman for the European Commission declined to comment," Politico writes.
