The document must now be signed by the president.
The Polish Senate has approved without amendments the bill on foreigners and assistance to citizens of Ukraine. This was reported by "Polish Radio" on Wednesday, September 17.
It is noted that 57 senators voted for the document, 32 were against, no one abstained.
This bill extends temporary protection for Ukrainians until March 4, 2026, and also links the payment of social assistance to professional activity.
"As for this law... regarding the goals, we agree with the president. And on health protection, and on the legality of stay, and on the issues of access to the labor market, and on the limitation of family payments. There is no dispute between us here. There's more of a discussion about exactly how this can be done to make it actually work. I am prepared to provide all the information as to why our project would work more effectively. At least for the reason that it concerns all foreigners, not only Ukrainians", - said the Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs of Poland Maciej Duszczyk.
From now on the document must be signed by the President of the country. Earlier, the relevant bill was approved by the Polish Sejm.
It provides for strengthening control over the receipt of social assistance by foreigners. The right to it will be linked to professional activity and education of children in a Polish school. The exception is parents of children with disabilities.
The Social Insurance Office will check monthly whether foreigners have been "professionally active". If the alien did not work in a particular month, the payment will not accrue. In addition, the services will check whether the foreigner has left Poland.
Unemployed persons who register as unemployed will also be able to receive 800+ for three months, and if they have more than two children - for six months, provided that they meet other requirements for assistance for at least three children.
Restrictions will also be introduced on the ability of adult Ukrainian citizens to use health care services. These include health care programs, therapeutic rehabilitation, dental treatment and drug treatment programs.
