A Ukrainian F-16 fighter jet has used an air-to-air missile while hunting a Russian Shaked kamikaze drone. The AIM-9L Sidewinder missile traveled in an arc following the drone and hit the target.
Russian Federation armed forces launched Shaheds at Ukraine, and one of them was caught on video by a cameraman in an unspecified region of Ukraine, according to video from social media. The footage was published by the TikTok account, whose author is listed as "Roman Baltsar." The minute-long recording shows a Russian drone being blasted in the air with a missile.
The video of the interception of a Shahed by an AFU F-16 aircraft appeared on the evening of September 18. The author did not specify in which region the events took place, but the post has the user's (or the video's) likely location as Odessa. On the recording first appeared a drone-kamikaze of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation, at the 20th second in the frame hit the fighter jet. The plane hovered in the sky for some time and did not fire: the operator assumed that "the missiles ran out". Finally, at 44 seconds, the F-16 fired a missile that followed the drone, looping and repeating the drone's movement. At 48 seconds, there was a flash and a column of smoke: the missile had hit the Shahed.
"Shoot, bro, I'm shooting. Look how beautiful [after the hit - ed.]. It's going to go bang when I fired the missile," the video's author can be heard commenting.
In the course of 15 hours, more than a hundred comments were collected under the post. Most commenters admired the pilot's skill and advised Poles to pay attention to the skill of Ukrainians. Some advised not to post such videos so as not to help the enemy.
