Oil, "shadow fleet", banks and cryptocurrencies are under attack.
The European Commission (EC) has approved proposals for the 19th package of sanctions against Russia. Details have not yet been revealed, but it is already known that the project will mainly focus on restricting Russian oil trade, fighting the "shadow fleet", as well as the work of Kremlin banks and cryptocurrency.
This was reported by The Guardian.
The new restrictions will need the agreement of all EU member states during the EU Council vote for them to take effect. The final decision is expected to be made in October.
EU extends existing sanctions against Russia
EU ambassadors earlier agreed to extend sanctions against Russia for its invasion of Ukraine for another 6 months - against all individuals and organizations already subject to the restrictions. This was announced on September 12 by Kaja Kallas, the EU's High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy.
In addition, according to Radio Liberty's European affairs editor Rickard Jozwiak, the EU ambassadors said, oligarchs Mikhail Fridman and Alisher Usmanov, whose exclusion was sought by a number of European countries, will remain on the sanctions list.
