NATO Reveals Details Of Incident Involving Violation Of Estonian Airspace

NATO quickly responded with fighter jets as part of Operation Eastern Guardian.
The North Atlantic Alliance said that Russian fighter jets that violated Estonian airspace on Friday acted unprofessionally.
The "European Pravda", this is according to a commentary by a spokesman for the headquarters of the Supreme Allied Commander Europe (SHAPE).
The commentary says that on Friday morning three Russian MiG-31 fighter jets violated Estonian airspace.
"Such behavior is not expected from a professional air force. NATO reacted quickly as part of Operation Eastern Guardian, putting Italian F-35 fighter jets based in Estonia in the air. Sweden and Finland also put their rapid response aircraft in the air," it added.
The SHAPE spokesman said that NATO's Air Force Command ensured coherent communication and coordination with allies as part of the response operation.
European states earlier expressed solidarity with Estonia, with Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrei Sibiga calling on partners to put "crushing pressure" on Russia.
Estonian Prime Minister Kristen Michal said his country had initiated NATO consultations on Article 4 of the Washington Treaty.
