Lithuania Proposed Sanctions Against Russia's Oil And Gas Revenues, Rosatom And Shadow Fleet

The pressure on Russia must continue.

Lithuanian President Gitanas Nauseda said at a meeting with Finnish President Alexander Stubb that the country's authorities have proposed sanctions against Rosatom, Russia's oil and gas revenues and its "shadow fleet."

"The pressure on Russia must continue. That is why Lithuania has proposed the 19th package of sanctions, which will include Rosatom', Russia's oil and gas revenues and its so-called shadow fleet," Nauseda said (quoted by the Lithuanian president's website).

The Lithuanian president added that in order to achieve peace in Ukraine, it is necessary to provide the country with strong and long-term security guarantees. He also thanked Alexander Stubb for his contribution to the negotiations between the US, Ukraine and European leaders.

The EU Council approved the 18th package of sanctions on July 18. The 19th package of restrictions is scheduled to be adopted in September. According to Bloomberg, the EU is considering imposing sanctions on countries that help Russia circumvent the current restrictions.
