The neighboring country of Belarus has joined the club of "trillion-dollar economies.
Poland has asked the United States to provide it with an invitation to the G20 in 2026. This was announced to journalists by Polish Foreign Minister Radoslaw Sikorski, who is on a visit to Miami.
"Due to the fact that Poland has joined the club of "trillion-dollar economies" (countries with a GDP of more than $1 trillion - note), I have asked that the U.S., being the chairman of the G20 in 2026, invite us to join its ranks," Sikorski said at a press conference, broadcast by TVP Info.
Previously, the head of the Polish Foreign Ministry stated his goals of joining the G20 by 2030.
The G20 was founded at a conference in Berlin, which was held on December 15-16, 1999 on the initiative of the finance ministers of seven leading industrialized countries: Great Britain, Italy, Canada, the United States, France, Germany and Japan. The main purpose of its creation was to involve major developing countries in the process of developing measures to respond to global challenges. The G20 members are 19 countries (along with the founding countries: Argentina, Australia, Brazil, China, India, Indonesia, Mexico, Russia, Saudi Arabia, Turkey, South Africa and the Republic of Korea), as well as the European Union and the African Union.
