The US president said that Russia's war against Ukraine "doesn't make sense".
US President Donald Trump is "very disappointed" with Russian dictator Vladimir Putin, who has so far not agreed to meet with Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky and has only stepped up attacks on Ukraine.
The US leader said this in an interview with CNN.
"I'm very disappointed in him. He and I have always had a great relationship. I'm very disappointed. Thousands of people are dying. It's not Americans who are dying, it's Russians and Ukrainians. And there are thousands of them. And it's a war that makes no sense," Trump said.
He reiterated once again that this war would never have started if he were president of the United States.
"And we're going to do something to help people live. This is not a Ukraine issue. It's helping people live. Every week 7,000 people die, mostly soldiers. If I can help prevent that, I believe I have an obligation to do so," the US president added.
