The package will include helicopters and BMPs.
The Trump administration has told the US Congress it plans to sell Israel about $6 billion worth of weapons. It would include helicopters and BMPs.
It was reported by The Wall Street Journal and The Times of Israel.
According to a US official and another person, the proposal includes the sale of 30 AH-64 Apache helicopters worth $3.8 billion, nearly doubling Israel's current stockpile.
In addition, the list includes the sale of 3,200 infantry fighting vehicles (IFVs) worth $1.9 billion. Fulfillment will not be before 2-3 years.
A person familiar with the situation also said that the sale of $750 million worth of armored personnel carrier spare parts and power supplies is underway.
The Times of Israel notes that these sales come as U.S. plans to mediate an end to the war between Israel and Hamas have stalled and an Israeli strike on Hamas leaders in Doha, Qatar, drew widespread condemnation Wednesday from U.S. allies in the Middle East.
In addition, the United States continues to provide support despite growing international pressure on Israel and attempts by a growing number of Democrats in the U.S. Senate to block the sale of offensive weapons to Israel.
Remember, on the night of September 16, Israel launched an offensive on Gaza, the largest city in the Gaza Strip.
