The EU takes this very seriously, as they do all hybrid and Russian attacks.
European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen has for the first time personally commented on the GPS signal interference incident that hit the plane she was aboard.
She said this in an interview with media outlets belonging to the Leading European Newspaper Alliance.
Von der Leyen noted GPS signal disruptions "have become a daily problem in many regions bordering Russia."
"Maritime traffic in the Baltic Sea often experiences disruptions. The risk of collisions is increasing. The same goes for air traffic over the Black Sea. Russia seems willing to accept the possibility that at some point there could be deadly accidents," the European Commission president said.
She said the EU takes this very seriously, as it does all hybrid and cyber attacks by Russia.
"Because these attacks clearly show that Russia's ambitions are not limited to Ukraine. Europe's only path to security and stability is a strong and credible deterrence," she emphasized.
Reminder, the plane with European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen during a flight to Bulgaria had to land on paper maps due to malfunctions in the GPS, which are considered a consequence of Russian interference.
Recently, 13 EU countries called on the European Commission to take action in connection with communication outages of the Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) in the countries of the community.
