The DPRK has obtained "secret weapons" and made advances in the field of defense science that will make a major contribution to increasing combat capabilities, North Korean dictator Kim Jong-un said during a speech at the 13th session of the 14th Supreme People's Assembly of the DPRK, the Korean Central Telegraphic Agency (KCTAK) reported.
"We have obtained new secret weapons and made a significant number of research achievements in the field of defense science, which will make a significant contribution to the further development of our military capabilities," Kim Jong-un said.
The North Korean dictator also recalled the construction of new destroyers, which was "the first important step in the establishment of maritime power," as well as the "relentless strengthening of strategic forces" and improving the performance of serial weapons.
In early September, the DPRK conducted a ground test of a high thrust rocket engine nozzle using carbon fiber-reinforced material. The engine test was observed by North Korean dictator Kim Jong Un.
The ground test of the engine nozzle was the ninth and is expected to be the last in the development process.
The development of a high thrust engine in the DPRK to be used in the production of intercontinental ballistic missiles (ICBMs) was reported by the CTAC in early September.
After seeing the result of the engine tests, the North Korean dictator discussed with experts the issue of creating a base for mass production of such products.
In late August, Kim Jong-un signed three new plans to establish missile production capacity, as well as a corresponding draft of defense spending.
