Norway's Capital Has Closed Its Airport Due To Drones

All traffic was transferred to one runway.

On the night of September 23, Gardermuen airport in the Norwegian capital Oslo was completely closed. The reason was the fixation of unknown drones.

It was reported by Verdens Gang and Aftonbladet.

As the media write, the first reports of drones over the airport appeared at 23:30 local time. After that, all traffic was transferred to one runway.

More than an hour later, another drone was spotted in the air. By this point, the airport was completely closed to receiving and departing planes.

"The airspace over Oslo Airport is closed due to a new drone," said Monika Fasting, communications manager at Gardermuen Airport.

Fasting said the airport closure affected between 12 and 14 flights. It added that they did not have an exact timeline for when the airspace would reopen, and advised morning commuters to watch for updates from their airlines.

"We hope to open the airspace before that time, so those departing tomorrow morning should treat their flight as normal and deal with the airline," Fasting said.

What preceded

We will recall that on Monday evening, unknown drones were spotted in the Danish capital Copenhagen. Because of this, the capital's airport was closed for receiving and sending airplanes. At least 15 flights were diverted to other airports.

Later that evening, an incident occurred in Norway. In particular, an alarm sounded over the military territory in Oslo. It is known that Law enforcers detained two people from Singapore.
