This dramatically changes the balance not in Russia's favor.
American Republican Senator Lindsey Graham considers the statement by US President Donald Trump that Ukraine, with the support of Europe, can defeat Russia and regain all its territories a "watershed moment." Graham wrote this on social media X on September 23.
"This commitment to continue selling high-tech American weapons to NATO for the benefit of Ukraine dramatically alters the military equilibrium for Russia," the senator wrote.
He believes that the arms sale commitment, combined with pressure on countries that buy Russian oil, particularly China, India and Brazil, could end the war in Ukraine "with honor and justice."
The senator supported the U.S. president's statement regarding Russia's deteriorating economy.
"And it will only get worse if we make buying cheap Russian oil and gas toxic for those who choose that path. It's time to put an end to this carnage. Well done, Mr. President," Graham wrote.
On September 23, Trump wrote after meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky on the margins of the 80th session of the UN General Assembly in New York about Russia's economic problems and that Ukraine, with the support of the EU, has every opportunity to fight and return all territory to its "original form."
"With time, patience and financial support from Europe, and especially NATO, returning to the original borders from where this war began is a very real option. Why not?" - the US president wrote on social media.
He also said that the Russian economy is now "in terrible shape, it's collapsing" and that Ukraine is "doing very well to stop this very large army."
Trump also suggested that the war in Ukraine does not seem likely to end for a long time.
