The conversation took place in a positive way.
Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky and US President Donald Trump met in New York during the 80th session of the UN General Assembly. The talks took place on September 23, and the Ukrainian leader called them one of the most informative in recent times. He emphasized that the conversation was intense and had a practical nature, writes OBOZ.UA.
According to Zelensky, the conversation was held in a positive manner. He thanked Trump for his attention to the Ukrainian issue, but noted that he could not share all the details yet. The Ukrainian president added that his American counterpart had important information about the situation on the front and economic processes around the war.
"A very good meeting today was.... I'm very grateful to Trump. Can't share the details right now. Trump has very important information about the situation on the front," Zelensky said.
Press conference after the meeting
The Ukrainian president said Putin shared information with Trump that was "far from the truth on the battlefield." In particular, he bragged about the allegedly captured territories of Ukraine and promised to occupy more.
"Now he trusts me more. Because the information that my intelligence has and that we share with our partners is different. So, in September, we de-occupied 360 kilometers, and we control still a certain number of Russian military who got surrounded," Zelensky said.
On the fate of children
The official channel of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky reports that an important moment was also the meeting of the first ladies - Melania Trump and Elena Zelensky - who spoke about the fate of Ukrainian children.
"Today a lot of attention was paid to the issue of returning children who were kidnapped by Russia, as well as supporting our efforts to protect life. We discussed several promising ideas for bringing peace closer, and hopefully they will produce quick results. In particular, we touched upon the PURL program, which is already working well, as well as potential projects within the framework of this initiative," Zelensky wrote.
Donald Trump published a message on his social network Truth Social after the meeting. He said that Ukraine, with the support of the EU, is capable of restoring its borders to their original form. He said the economic problems caused by the war are already evident to Russia.

The American president emphasized that with time, patience and help from NATO partners, Ukraine has a real chance to regain territory. He characterized Russia as a country that has been fighting aimlessly for more than three and a half years and compared it to a "paper tiger."
Perspective
In his statement, Trump also emphasized that the U.S. will continue to transfer weapons to NATO, and the alliance itself will determine how to dispose of them. This, in his opinion, should ensure stability in the region and create a solid basis for Ukraine to continue fighting.

Zelensky, for his part, emphasized that such a dialogue with the US is important at a time when Kiev needs support not only on the battlefield, but also on international platforms. He recognized that joint actions with allies are the key to future victories.
