Two Passenger Planes Collided In Sheremetyevo

The flight to St. Petersburg was delayed for almost three hours.

At Moscow's Sheremetyevo airport, two passenger planes - a Sukhoi Superjet 100 of Rossiya Airlines and an Airbus A330 of Hainan Airlines - collided on the runway.

This was reported by RBC-Ukraine with reference to the Russian media.

A crew error at Moscow's Sheremetyevo airport almost led to a human tragedy.

The tail of a Rossiya Airlines Sukhoi Superjet 100 (FV6097/SU6097), which was supposed to fly to Pulkovo (St. Petersburg), was hit while taxiing on the runway.

But due to an incident with a foreign airline's Airbus A330 Hainan Airlines plane, which was preparing to depart for Beijing (HU7986), the flight to St. Petersburg was delayed by almost three hours.

Fortunately, passengers and crew of both planes were not injured, and both boards received minor damage.

At first, social networks reported about technical faults on board the Sukhoi Superjet 100. However, it later became known that the real reason for the flight delay was a human error of the crew, which almost led to a serious accident.

The flight to St. Petersburg was postponed from 20:30 to 23:20.

Representatives of the airport and airlines have not yet made official statements regarding the incident and safety measures. Further information on the causes of the incident and safety measures is expected soon.

It should be noted that the last significant incident involving a Sukhoi Superjet 100 occurred on May 5, 2019, when an Aeroflot plane crashed while landing at Sheremetyevo Airport. At that time, 41 people were killed and the plane was severely damaged. The investigation into the causes of the crash was conducted by the Interstate Aviation Committee (IAC).
