GUR Hackers Attacked Russia's National Payment System

On September 24-25, cyber specialists of the Main Directorate of Intelligence carried out a large-scale attack on the digital infrastructure of the Russian national payment system SPB and provider TransTeleCom.

As a result of the attack, the work of these resources was partially paralyzed. Russian citizens could not make transfers between banks and pay for goods and services, in particular, online payments at gas stations were unavailable, it was impossible to pay for public transportation by QR code.

A number of other inconveniences in the use of online services for Russian citizens (for example, the lack of Internet connection and interactive television) also appeared.

The estimated economic losses as a result of the attack are up to 30 million dollars.
