Ukrainian Foreign Ministry Makes New Statement On Talks With Russian Federation

The peace process is not at an impasse.

Ukraine is not in a deadlock in the peace process. Negotiations with partners regarding security guarantees and other important things are not stopping.

The First Deputy Foreign Minister of Ukraine Serhiy Kyslits said this in an interview with Ukrinform.

- This is not a deadlock. This is where we are today in conditions where the leadership of a dictatorial country shows no signs of wanting to negotiate peace, despite all the audio spam that comes out of the mouths of Peskov, Zakharova and others," Kislitsa said.

He said this does not mean that negotiations on security guarantees and "other important things that can be done regardless of whether Russia is ready to go for normal peace talks at the moment" have stopped or stalled between Ukraine and its partners.

The first deputy minister said that Ukraine, together with its partners, should not wait for peace to create a strong army as one element of security guarantees or to produce weapons or rebuild the economy in Ukraine.

He added that Ukraine's membership in the EU should be part of security guarantees.

- It is not just a whim or a political desire. We consider it as part of Ukraine's economic stability and economic strength, because the EU is first of all a matter of economy and trade," Kislitsa explained.

He also noted that an important element that made the talks with partners more substantive was the confirmation of the US readiness to be part of security guarantees.

- After all, many things, including in the military and military-political spheres, are impossible without American support. There was no point in talking about them unless European countries were sure that the Americans were with us," the first deputy minister emphasized.
