Ryzhenkov Raved About Lukashenko's "conspiracy Theory" At The UN
Maxim Ryzhenkov

Lukashenka's minister was frightened by the "Terminator" and the uprising of artificial intelligence.

The collective West is creating a "silicone curtain" in the field of artificial intelligence (AI). This statement was made by Foreign Minister Maxim Ryzhenkov on September 25 at a debate in the UN Security Council.

The head of the Belarusian Foreign Ministry drew the attention of those present that "not a day passes without headlines in the press about another breakthrough in the use of artificial intelligence."

- Progress in this field opens up hitherto unimaginable prospects for development in almost all areas of human life: in the fight against climate change, hunger, incurable diseases and so on. However, not everything is so rosy and promising, as artificial intelligence is like a proverbial two-edged sword," Maxim Ryzhenkov noted.

The Minister accused the "so-called collective West" of trying to "exclude other countries from the development and mastery of artificial intelligence, believing that this technology will allow it to ensure its military and economic superiority".

- In essence, a new curtain is being created in this area - this time not ideological, but technological - a "silicon curtain" that should divide the West from the other world - the Global Majority - and return the Global Majority countries to a new neocolonialism. We are convinced that this is a path to nowhere, if not to the abyss for all mankind," said the Foreign Minister.

Maxim Ryzhenkov also touched upon the topic of AI application in the military field.

- The unceasing armed conflicts contribute to the advanced development of military technologies. Modern conflicts are wars of unmanned aerial vehicles, high-precision weapons and deadly autonomous weapon systems that may have a self-learning function peculiar to artificial intelligence. There is a real risk that the algorithms of artificial intelligence in weapon systems at a certain stage will make decisions on their own," the speaker said.

He reminded that "many technothrillers have been filmed on this subject."

From "War Games", when a computer game almost leads to the launch of nuclear missiles, to "Terminator", when the Skynet system decides to destroy mankind," Ryzhenkov said.

In this context, the Foreign Minister recalled the statement of Alexander Lukashenko, who expressed his fear that artificial intelligence "can destroy mankind if it is let out of control."

- This all brings us to the key issue - artificial intelligence should be under human control," Ryzhenkov noted.
