Early in the morning of September 26, an explosion occurred on the railroad tracks near the Plussa station in the Pskov region, the head of the region, Mikhail Vedernikov, reported. "There are no casualties. There was no derailment of the railroad train," the governor noted. He added that operational services are working at the scene and urged local residents to remain calm. The Oktyabrskaya railroad warned after the incident that two Lastochka passenger trains between Pskov and St. Petersburg were put on a modified route through the Batetskaya station.
This is the second explosion on the railroad since the beginning of the month. On September 13, explosive devices were found while checking the tracks in the Orel region. One of them exploded, killing two people and injuring another, the region's head Andrey Klychkov said. The incident then led to the delay of 17 trains traveling from Belgorod to Moscow, St. Petersburg and from Kursk to Orel. Ukraine's Main Intelligence Directorate (GUR) claimed responsibility for the incident. The goal of the operation was to disable the Russian railroad between Orel and Kursk.
Before that, the authorities of the Belgorod region reported two cases of blowing up railroad tracks in late May and early June. On May 25, the road was blown up by an explosive device planted under the rails. The explosion occurred when a railroad train was passing along the tracks, no one was injured. On June 6 in Prokhorovsky district of the region as a result of an explosion a reserve diesel locomotive derailed.
May 31 in Bryansk region there was an explosion of a highway bridge near the village of Vygonichi. Under the bridge is a railroad, on which the train Klimov - Moscow was passing at the time of the explosion. Seven people died, more than 70 were injured, 47 of them, including three children, were hospitalized. On June 1, a railroad bridge collapsed in Kursk region, on which a freight locomotive was traveling. The diesel locomotive caught fire, one of the drivers' legs were injured.
