The Croatian parliament on Friday, September 26, rejected a proposal to recognize Palestinian statehood.
This was reported by TV channel N1.
Forty-four deputies voted in favor of recognizing the Palestinian state, four abstained and 73 voted against.
The vote was in response to a proposal by some deputies who cited the "humanitarian catastrophe taking place in the Gaza Strip."
Croatian President Zoran Milanovic on Monday at the General Assembly in New York also called for the recognition of the Palestinian state.
"The conditions for the recognition of the Palestinian state have not yet been met, as it is necessary to end conflicts and release all hostages," Croatian Foreign Minister Gordan Grlić Radman said in response to the president's statement.
It is well known that in recent days a number of states, including France, have announced the recognition of the Palestinian state.
