The issue is under active discussion.
U.S. Vice President J.D. Vance stated that Russia has refused to participate in peace talks on Ukraine and confirmed that the U.S. administration is discussing the possibility of supplying Kiev with Tomahawk cruise missiles.
In comments to Fox News, he said that over the past two weeks, the Russian side has refused both bilateral meetings with Ukraine and trilateral talks involving the United States. "Washington wants to achieve peace," the vice president emphasized. He also added that Russia "is suffering great losses with little or no results" and urged it to "wake up," "accept reality" and take steps to end the conflict.
Answering a question about possible deliveries of Tomahawk cruise missiles to Ukraine, Vance noted that the issue is under active discussion. "The final decision regarding this will be made by the president [Donald Trump]. The president will do what is in the best interest of the United States," he said.
The Telegraph newspaper reported earlier about Kiev's request for Tomahawks. According to its information, Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky during a private conversation with Donald Trump on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly asked to provide these weapons, explaining that they would help force Vladimir Putin to the negotiating table. Zelensky himself later said that Trump responded to his request by promising to "work on it."
The publication, citing diplomatic sources, also wrote that US Secretary of State Marco Rubio informed his European counterparts that Donald Trump was "really angry" at Vladimir Putin for ignoring White House attempts to end the war in Ukraine.
