The occupiers faced a shortage of soldiers on the main lines.
The Russian occupiers failed to advance in Sumy region, and are also experiencing logistical problems in the Pokrovsk direction and shortage of personnel in the Donetsk-Dnipropetrovsk direction.
This is stated in a fresh report by the Institute for the Study of War (ISW).
Russian troops managed to advance in the Novopavlovsk direction. The speaker of the Dnipro OSGV Viktor Tregubov reported that Russian occupiers continue to attempt to infiltrate and bypass Ukrainian defense positions in small groups and try to gain a foothold in small settlements in Donetsk and Dnipropetrovsk regions.
Tregubov said that the open terrain in the area is unfavorable for offensives and that it is difficult for Russian troops to find shelter in windbreaks when leaves start falling. Tregubov noted that Russian military commanders are redeploying units from southern Ukraine to the east, but that they used to move to higher priority areas or to the third or fourth lines of defense in Ukraine's occupied territories. This may indicate that Russia is suffering from a shortage of personnel.
Analysts note that Ukrainian servicemen were advancing in the northern Sumy region. At the same time, video footage published on September 27 shows that Russia's claims that it had seized positions southeast of Andreevka (north of Sumy city) are erroneous, and that Ukrainian troops were holding positions or advancing in the area.
The Russian occupiers also conducted assaults in the north of Kharkiv region, but did not advance.
In the Kupyansk and Borovsk directions, Russian army troops also made no progress. However, the Russians have advanced in the Limansk direction.
In the Limansk direction, Russian troops have not captured Zarechnoye, but have been conducting missions to penetrate the settlement for several months. In particular, they infiltrate in small groups of five men, of whom, on average, three are killed after strikes, one is wounded, and one is lost from sight.
In the Seversk direction, in the tactical areas of Konstantinovka-Druzhkovka and Dobropillya, Russian troops continued operations, but without success.
Analogous situation is also in the Pokrovsk direction, ISW said. Here Russian infantry continues to attack in small assault groups once or twice a day. The growing range of Russian attack drones expands the "kill zone" and complicates Ukrainian logistics. However, Russian troops in this direction also suffer from logistical problems.
In the Zaporizhzhya region and Kherson direction, Russian troops have failed to advance.
