Moscow Will Start Conscripting Into The Army Only By Electronic Summonses

Once the summons is sent, the citizen is prohibited from leaving the country.

During the upcoming fall conscription, Russian citizens liable for military service in Moscow, the republic of Mari El, as well as in the Ryazan and Sakhalin regions will receive only electronic summonses, said the head of the General Staff's Main Organizational and Mobilization Department Evgeny Burdinsky, writes The Moscow Times.

He reminded that information about electronic summonses will be entered into a special register. Seven days after publication in it, the document will be considered served. After sending the summons, the citizen is prohibited from leaving the country. In case of failure to appear in the military enlistment office within 20 days, a person will receive a fine of up to 30 thousand rubles. In addition, he will be deprived of the ability to drive a car, make real estate transactions, register an individual entrepreneur and take loans. "These measures of restrictions are removed from the citizen immediately upon his appearance at the military commissariat," Burdinsky noted.

On the eve of September 29, Putin signed a decree on the fall draft. It will last from October 1 to December 31. During this period, 135,000 Russians aged 18 to 30 should be sent for compulsory military service. This is the most massive fall draft since 2016, when it was planned to send 152 thousand Russians to serve. Taking into account the record 160,000 people who were drafted in the spring, a total of 295,000 recruits are to serve this year.
