In Belarus, Benefits For Housing And Utility Services Will Be Reduced

As early as October 1.

October 1, changes in the system of benefits for payment for housing and communal services will come into force in Belarus. The government decree was published on the National Legal Internet Portal.

According to the document, from October, benefits for payment for maintenance, including elevator, as well as for the use of residential premises will be provided only for 20 square meters - regardless of the total area of housing. The rest - at full cost.

In addition, benefits for public utilities will be valid only within the established norms of consumption, which are determined by local authorities. Anything above the norm will have to be paid at the regular tariff, explained "deputy" of the "House of Representatives" Vladimir Kolesnikovich.

A progressive system of gas payment will also be introduced:

up to 3000 m³ per year - preferential tariff,

from 3001 to 5500 m³ - tariff with a coefficient of 1.3,

over 5500 m³ - full price.

For users of liquefied gas there is a limit: up to 5 cylinders per person per year - with a discount, above - without a discount.

If no one is registered in the apartment, utilities will be calculated at rates that provide full reimbursement of costs.

Owners of private houses will not have to pay for garbage disposal for up to 6 months, if the house is not used. In addition, those who have installed heat meters or distributors will be given a 10% discount on heating for three years.

On October 1, a new procedure for recalculation of payments for housing and communal services will come into force in Belarus. According to the decree, if a person was absent from his place of residence for more than 10 consecutive days and confirmed it with documents, he will be able to recover part of the payment for water, gas, garbage, sewage and even electricity used for the elevator.

Basis for recalculation include travel abroad, medical treatment, business trips, military service, stay in children's camps, care for a disabled person of group I or elderly over 80 years old, as well as leaving for a cottage or in the village. You can submit an application within 30 days after your return - with supporting documents.

Important: recalculation is not provided for citizens recognized as not employed in the economy from March 1, 2022 and paying for housing and utility services at full cost.
