Macron: Two EU Countries Should Stop Buying Russian Oil

French President Emmanuel Macron has confirmed that during a conversation with European leaders today, US President Donald Trump demanded that Europe completely stop buying Russian oil. Macron said the issue, which concerns two European Union countries - meaning Hungary and Slovakia - has long worried Ukrainian allies.

"President Trump and the American administration, as well as us, have been very worried since the beginning of this war about the choice of two European Union countries that continue to buy Russian oil. And I think it's a very good thing that it's the American administration that is talking about the need to stop this practice. Because sometimes these countries make their argument that they are very close to the American administration," Emmanuel Macron said at a press conference following a meeting of a "coalition of the willing" in Paris.

On Donald Trump's demand to Europe, Reuters wrote, citing an official from the White House. According to him, the American president emphasized that the European Union's purchases of Russian oil brought Russia "€1.1 billion in a year."
