Israel's Army Claimed Control Of 40% Of Gaza City

Israel is preparing for an operation to take full control of the city.

Israeli forces have taken control of about 40% of Gaza City, Israel Defense Forces (IDF) spokesman Efi Defrin told a briefing on Thursday.

He said Israeli forces hold about 40% of Gaza City. "This week we began to bring in reserve forces, which significantly strengthens our capabilities," the IDF spokesman said.

The military official said that as part of the ongoing operation, IDF units are fighting and conducting maneuvers in areas of Gaza City, particularly in the Zeitoun neighborhood and on the outskirts of the Sheikh Radwan area.

As Israel prepares for an operation to take control of Gaza City, the country has announced the mobilization of reservists. The approval of these plans was announced on August 8 by the office of Israeli Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu.

On October 7, 2023, the Hamas terrorist group attacked Israel. The Israeli army launched an operation against Hamas in the Gaza Strip. The Israeli military currently controls about 75% of the Strip.
