In Lviv, officers of the Security Service of Ukraine together with the National Police prevented a large-scale terrorist attack organized by minors on the instructions of Russian special services.
The SBU reports.
Two teenagers planted an improvised explosive device under the car of a Ukrainian military officer, but law enforcers managed to disarm the danger before it could cause harm.
How the teenagers fell under the influence of the enemy
According to the SBU, a 17-year-old resident of Dnipropetrovsk region and his 16-year-old acquaintance from Cherkasy region met in anonymous telegram channels. There they were looking for "quick money", but came across recruiters from Russia. Through the instructions of their handlers, the minors agreed to carry out a sabotage in Lviv.
Details of the preparation of the terrorist attack
According to instructions from the Russian security services, the teenagers arrived in Lviv, where they took a backpack with 4.5 kg of explosives filled with metal elements from a safe house. After that, they tracked the military officer's car and put a homemade device under it.
The attackers installed a camera phone near the car. This was to allow their handlers to watch the bombing in real time.
The law enforcers detained the defendants "in the heat of the moment" - immediately after they had completed the preparation of the terrorist attack.

Qualification and responsibility
The teenagers are now suspected under several articles of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, including:
finished attempt to commit a terrorist act by prior conspiracy by a group of persons,
diversion,
obstructing the activities of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
The sanctions for these crimes provide for various terms of imprisonment, including life imprisonment with confiscation of property.
