On the night of September 5, explosions and fire erupted in the Russian city of Ryazan, with thick black smoke rising into the sky. Before that, local monitoring channels warned of a UAV threat.
The drones likely attacked the Ryazan oil refinery. This was reported by Russian media, "Focus".
"A refinery is on fire in Ryazan after a UAV attack, locals report," the Russian media wrote.
Frames from the site of the attack are circulating online. Videos and photos show a fire.
Before that, around 01:00 hours, the Russians declared an air alert in the Ryazan region because of the drone threat.
At around 01:30 hours, local media reported explosions in Ryazan and a fire in one of the city's neighborhoods.
"According to locals, several loud 'pops' went off on the southern outskirts of the city around 01:15am. After that, eyewitnesses began to report seeing a glow in the sky and a column of thick black smoke," RosSMI wrote.
Official information regarding the Ryazan oil refinery strike was not available at the time of publication. Russian authorities have also not commented on the UAV attack on the city.
