Aryna Sobolenko, ranked number one in the world tennis ranking, has made it to the final of the US Open for the third time in a row. In a tense semifinal, she defeated the world number four, American Jessica Pegula, 4:6, 6:3, 6:4.
The game lasted 2 hours and 5 minutes. Sobolenko made eight aces, made four double faults and realized three of seven break points. Pegula had three service aces, four service errors and two break points out of seven attempts.
Sobolenko has beaten Pegula at the US Open for the second year in a row: in 2024 the rivals met in the final of the tournament.
In the deciding match of the tournament, the Belarusian will face the ninth-ranked player of the world Amanda Anisimova. In July, she sensationally knocked Sobolenko out of Wimbledon in the semifinals.
The U.S. Open runs from August 24 to September 6. The tournament has a prize pool of $90 million.The reigning champion of the competition is also Arina Sobolenko.
